Occupational Therapy Support Worker - Johannesburg

Requirements:

  • • First degree, or evidence of completing band 3 competencies and willingness to undertake band 4.

  • • Extensive experience of working in a range of therapy/ care settings e.g. hospital, community.
  • • Experience of working with people with a broad range of impairments/ disabilities.
  • • Experience of working with people to facilitate learning of skills or gaining of independence.
  • • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • • Experience of teaching patients and carers.
  • • Experience of leading groups.
  • • Experience of working without direct supervision, including monitoring and reviewing the person's progress.

  • • Good general education (to GCSE or equivalent).
  • • First degree, or evidence of having completed band 3 competencies and willingness to undertake band 4 competencies.
  • • IELTS unless qualification taken in English.

  • • Experience as a Therapy Support Worker band 3, working in health or similar post.
  • • Experience of working as a lone worker.
  • • Experience of working in a relevant setting.
  • • Experience of working with vulnerable adults.

  • • Ability to time-manage and prioritise, with the support of supervisor.
  • • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • • Ability to empathise when helping to motivate and encourage patients with impairments.
  • • Able to observe and modify a treatment activity, demonstrating an understanding of the patient's needs.
  • • Ability to demonstrate understanding of disability/impairment and the concepts of rehabilitation.
  • • Able to keep accurate and up to date records.
