We are a non-profit organisation (NPO). We provide a free 24-hour 12 bed in-patient facility, caring for the terminally and chronically ill people as well as for patients in need of rehabilitation.
Weekdays we also have a community oriented primary health care programme that monitors and proactively works towards the improved health and well-being of families in our area. Our team includes 65 Home Based Carers who provide home-based care services for sick people and assessments and referrals for people with mental health issues. A new development is total home care for our palliative patients, which includes personal hygiene, feeding, changing of nappies with the medical care.
Palliative care done, includes all aspects of care: medical, psycho-social, personal, counselling and social care. As a whole, we provide end of life (palliative), rehabilitation and chronic care for the patients as well as counselling, care and support services for their families. We distribute donated fortified, fresh and tinned food parcels to our patients and malnourished children. Our Psycho-social department run monthly support groups for all our home care patients. Two social workers and an auxiliary worker are available to help people apply for social grants, identity documents and birth certificates Financially we are supported by the donations received at the Hospice Shop, donations and tenders.
